Ordering & the winter break

Can I order now?

Yes, please do. Lavender takes a winter nap, so we do too. Orders placed between 6 October 2026 and 28 February 2027 are dispatched in March 2027, when the plants are waking up and it's a great time to get them in the ground.

Will I be charged now or in March?

Payment is taken when you place your order, and that order holds your plants for March dispatch. If you change your mind before then, see cancellations below.

Can I choose a delivery date?

We can't promise an exact day, but if there's a week in March that really won't work (holiday, building work, the in-laws), tell us via the Contact us page and we'll do our best.

Delivery

How much is delivery?

Standard delivery is £8.99 per order, and it's free when you spend over £60.

How long does it take?

Outside the winter break, please allow up to 7 working days, especially in the busy spring and summer season. Winter-break orders go out in March 2027.

Where do you deliver?

Everywhere in the UK, Northern Ireland included. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all get the same rates: £8.99, or free on orders over £60. Our Shipping policy has the details.

What if my plants arrive damaged?

Plants occasionally have a rough journey. Let us know within 7 days of delivery via the Contact us page, ideally with a photo, and we'll put it right.

Planting & care

Where should I plant lavender?

Somewhere sunny with soil that drains. Lavender hates wet feet far more than it hates a dry spell. On heavy clay, mix in grit or sharp sand, or plant into a raised bed or pot.

How much watering does it need?

Water well when you plant it and during dry spells in its first summer. After that, established lavender in the ground is famously drought-tolerant and rarely needs a hosepipe. Plants in pots dry out faster, so check them in hot weather.

How many plants do I need for a hedge?

As a rough guide, 3 to 4 plants per metre for compact varieties like Hidcote, Little Lady and Thumbelina Leigh. Use a few less for big lavandins like Grosso and Edelweiss.

When and how do I prune it?

Give it a trim straight after flowering in late summer: take off the spent flower stems and a little of the leafy growth to keep it bushy. Avoid cutting back into bare, old wood, because it doesn't regrow well from there.

Is your lavender hardy?

Our English lavenders and lavandins are hardy in most UK gardens. Good drainage over winter matters more than the cold.

Can I eat it?

Our lavender plants are sold as culinary herbs. English (angustifolia) varieties like Hidcote and Munstead are the classic choice for baking, and our Cook's collection pairs the two.

Returns & cancellations

Can I cancel my order?

Yes. Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations you can cancel within 14 days of receiving your plants, without giving a reason, and you can cancel any time before your order is dispatched. Just tell us via the Contact us page.

Can I return plants?

Plants are living things, so please contact us first. Our Refund policy explains how returns and refunds work. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 aren't affected.
